College Magazine Analysis

College Magazine

I am analysing the college magazine "College Lifestyle". The layout of the front cover follows the codes and conventions of a magazine. The denotations of this magazine are the Masthead (College) which is placed at the top of the magazine, the feature article photo of the college student who is placed in the middle on a medium shot, a Cover-line (make money on campus), a Sticker, a Barcode and the articles down the sides.

The magazine has an attractive college student who is dressed casual and smart with his college books as the main image, this has connotations of showing the audience that you can be cool and also hard-working which most college students want. The bright pink sticker stands out on the magazine and the word "splat" emphasises paintballing which will appeal to college students as paintballing is a fun thing to do. The colours of black, white and grey has connotations of profession as they are professional colours. The green has connotations of fun as it stands out on the magazine and has a sense of brightness. The whole magazine cover has connotations of being professional and also fun which will appeal to college students as they will want an education but will also want to have fun, it will also appeal because it shows that you can be cool whilst having an education.
